Perry Tan Ho, 15

Singapore, Singapore

15 year old Singaporean composer. I primarily compose for piano, guitar duo, guitar ensemble, jazz ensembles, or mixed ensembles. Classically trained in piano (ABRSM) and guitar. From an early age, I began learning piano, and only picked up the classucal guitar when I was 13. However, my spark for composition began when I was 14, starting off on FL Studio. From music production, I branched out to scoring for Guitar Ensemble, something which I was apart of, before I began writing for guitar and other instrumentation. My biggest influences are Ravel, Prokofiev, Scriabin, Stravinsky, Messiaen, and Kapustin. My desire to compose stems solely from the desire to express my emotions and creative visions in terms of sound, structured over time. Some of my favourite orchestral pieces are Ravel's Daphnis Et Chloe, Prokofiev's Scythian Suite, Scriabin's Symphony No. 1, Messiaen's Turangalila Symphony, and Yoshimatsu's Memo Flora. For piano, I adore Scriabin's 5th Sonata, Ravel's Miroirs and Kapustin's Concert Etudes. For guitar, I love playing Sergio Assad's Aquarelle suite, Ginastera's Guitar Sonata, and any Bach transcription. I dabble in some Jazz piano improvisation too!
