Tehran, Iran
Moali Voshagh (b. 2002, Tehran) is an Iranian composer and pianist whose work grows out of a combined interest in classical composition, Persian modal traditions, and contemporary sonic practices. Alongside his academic training, he has continued to explore a range of musical fields including modal and Dastgāh-based writing, contemporary chamber music, electroacoustic work, and audiovisual experimentation. This parallel interest in multiple musical languages has shaped both his approach to form and his understanding of sound. His works have been presented in festivals, workshops, and collaborative projects in Iran and abroad. His string quintet Faryâd received Second Prize at the National Youth Music Festival. His chamber work Memory of the Not-So-Old Qanat (Hāfeze-ye qanāt-e nā chandān qadimī) was selected through the Kariz Project open call and has received multiple performances by Quater Ensemble in Cologne. His audiovisual and piano works have also been featured in international and online festivals. In addition to composing, he performs as a pianist in selected collaborative projects.
