James Pollard, 20

James Pollard is a multi-instrumentalist, conductor, composer and educator who has performed multiple times in Australia’s most distinguished venues such as the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Town Hall. With his powerful drive for music, James has become versed in various genres, creating an opportunity for him to perform alongside Australia’s most recognised performers and ensembles. Most notably, James and John Morrison, Paul Jarman, Greg Sheehan, David Helfgott, Australian Chamber Orchestra, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Through his journey conducting, James had the privilege of conducting and performing with the Bellingen Youth Orchestra for the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency, and The Honourable Margaret Beazley in the grand opening of the Bellingen Memorial Hall in 2023. Currently, James is completing his bachelor's studies majoring in composition under the mentorship of renowned contemporary Australian Composer Gerard Brophy at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. James writes various music ranging from classical to jazz; he also enjoys arranging for ensembles of any type. Driven by his enthusiasm, James will pursue music in all its forms, spreading the art he believes will brighten people’s lives.
