A two-time Brighter Futures Scholarship recipient, Christian Panjaitan is an emerging Indonesian-Australian composer completing a Bachelor of Music (Composition) at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Collaborating with emerging and established Brisbane-based ensembles, including Ensemble Opulous, Topology, The Australian Voices, and has had works performed across Oceania – from Brisbane’s QPAC to the Sydney Opera House to Auckland’s Civic Theatre. A consecutive winner of the Australian Society of Music Education Young Composer’s Award, Christian studies under the tutelage of noted composer/flautist, Michal Rosiak, and has received mentorship from major Australian composer, John Rotar. He also looks forward to completing an Honours dissertation and artistic folio in 2027. His compositional voice features a lush and instantly appealing blend of neoclassicism and contemporary classical, with a subtle touch of traditional Indonesian music.
