Atiran Srichada, 21

Mahasarakham, Thailand

Atiran Srichada (b. 2005) is a Thai contemporary composer whose musical language blends Western traditions with Thai music, particularly the folk music of Northeastern Thailand (Isan). His works are often influenced by Buddhism, philosophical concepts, and historical narratives. He began studying music and music theory at a young age and started composing seriously at the age of 18. In 2023, he enrolled at the College of Music, Mahidol University, Thailand, majoring in Jazz Performance, before transitioning to the Composition and Music Theory program under the guidance of Dr. Narong Prangcharoen. Through his studies, he developed an interest in contemporary Asian and Western musical practices, along with a core artistic belief that “everything is possible in music.” Atiran has a strong affinity for wind ensembles, which he considers a crucial force in the development of music education in Thailand. As a result, a significant portion of his works is written for wind ensemble, alongside compositions for various chamber ensembles. He previously served as a conductor of the wind ensemble at Wat Huai Chorakhe School (W.J. Band), where he gained valuable experience in both ensemble leadership and secondary-level music education. In addition, he has traveled extensively across Thailand as a music instructor, working with various ensembles, including Thai Luk Thung bands. These experiences have deeply shaped his musical perspective and provided ongoing inspiration for his compositions. In 2026, he was commissioned by Chaiyapon Swangwan to compose movements II and III of the symphonic suite Sound of Dvaravati. The work was premiered by the CDA Wind Symphonic Band at the College of Dramatic Arts, Salaya. In addition to composing, he has also worked as an arranger for the Bangkok Metropolitan Orchestra and the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.
