Annette Ma’s music explores tension, whimsy, rhythmic drive, and the narrative potential of music. Currently a junior Music Composition major at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, she has studied with Michael Rose, Molly Herron, Stan Link, and Michael Slayton, and has recently attended the 2025 Emerging Composers Intensive at Hidden Valley and 2026 Akropolis Chamber Music Institute. Her works have been performed by musicians at the Blair School of Music and her high school alma mater, and she has scored for film and theatre productions. She is pursuing a minor in Saxophone at Vanderbilt, and is also a vocalist, percussionist, and self-taught low brass player.
