Ali Mehrabi (b. 2009) is an Iranian composer and Tar player based in Tehran. Currently a student at the Tehran Music Conservatory, he has dedicated over five years to the rigorous study of the Radif (the classical repertoire of Persian music) while simultaneously developing a deep foundation in Western musical theory and composition. His compositional language focuses on the structural synthesis of Persian modal systems and contemporary Western ensembles. Mehrabi seeks to discover a “Third Language”—one that honors his cultural heritage while embracing the complexities of 21st-century avant-garde orchestration. His work is characterized by a profound dialogue between traditional Persian aesthetics and modern dissonant expressionism, often exploring the emotional depth of melodic inflections within a chamber music context. As a representative of the new generation of Iranian musicians, Ali Mehrabi aims to redefine the boundaries of intercultural composition, moving beyond mere fusion toward a structural and emotional metamorphosis.
